MinimalPulse respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices regarding your use of the Wisp application ("the Software"). Our philosophy is simple: what happens on your PC stays on your PC.

Wisp is designed from the ground up as a lightweight, local-first application. We do not want your data, we do not track your gameplay, and we do not upload your recordings.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

Wisp operates strictly on your local device. Because of this architecture, MinimalPulse does not collect, store, transmit, or have access to:

  • Your Recordings: All video and audio files (clips, buffers, screen recordings, microphone inputs) are stored exclusively on your local hard drive.
  • Your Gameplay Data: We do not track what games you play, how long you play them, or your performance.
  • Your Account Information: Wisp does not require an account, login, or email address to function.
  • Your Telemetry or Analytics: We do not track how you click through the application or monitor feature usage.

2. Information Handled Locally on Your Device

To provide its core functionality, Wisp processes certain information strictly on your local machine:

  • Screen and Audio Data: Wisp continuously captures your screen and system audio into a temporary local buffer to allow for instant clip saving. This data is written to your local disk and continuously overwritten.
  • Metadata: Clip metadata (such as timestamps, file sizes, duration, custom tags, and favorite statuses) is stored in a local SQLite database (clips.db) located in your %AppData%\Wisp directory.
  • Configuration Settings: Your preferences, hotkey bindings, and UI settings are stored locally in a JSON file (settings.json).

3. Network Activity

Wisp is primarily an offline application. The only network activity initiated by the base Software is:

  • Automatic Updates: Wisp may periodically connect to our distribution channel (currently GitHub) to check for, download, and install software updates to keep your application secure and up-to-date. This connection only transmits standard HTTP request headers (like your IP address, which is required by the internet protocol but not stored by us) to determine the latest available version.

4. Third-Party Plugins

Wisp supports the loading of third-party plugins to extend its functionality.

  • Plugin Autonomy: Plugins are created by third-party developers and operate under their own privacy policies and terms.
  • User Responsibility: We do not endorse, monitor, or control the data practices of third-party plugins. If you install a plugin that requires internet access or transmits data, that activity is governed entirely by the plugin author. You install and run plugins at your own risk.

5. Third-Party Components

Wisp utilizes select third-party open-source components (such as FFmpeg) to handle video processing. These components operate locally on your machine and do not transmit personal data to us or their original creators.

6. Your Rights and Control

Because MinimalPulse does not collect your personal data, there is no account to delete or server-side data to request. You have complete control over your data:

  • To delete your data: Simply delete the clips from your local output folder and delete the %AppData%\Wisp directory to remove all metadata and settings.
  • To stop recording: Close Wisp from the system tray.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our software or legal requirements. Since Wisp does not require an email address, we cannot notify you directly. We encourage you to review this policy periodically on our website or within the application documentation.
